It comes down to efficiency – and results.
In litigation, Steve aims to resolve matters quickly and efficiently through early settlement or mediation where appropriate, and the use of court processes to force slow-moving counsel to respond and advance the matter. In commercial matters where clients are looking to close transactions, he helps ensure these transactions don’t get delayed or derailed by spotting obstacles and, more importantly, finding solutions.
Representative matters
In addition to his legal knowledge, Steve brings objectivity, good judgment and an analytical mind-frame to the table when working with clients on a wide variety of issues. This allows him to provide appropriate strategic and tactical advice to clients such as:
- Insurance companies doing both defence and subrogation work.
- Regional and local companies and bodies in litigation matters.
- Marine insurance and P&I clubs in respect of marine accidents and injuries.
- National law firms as local counsel on M&A and securities matters.
- Mining companies and prospectors in reviewing, drafting and negotiating both simple and complex mining agreements.
- Oil and gas companies on regulatory and transactional matters.
