Stewart McKelvey is delighted to announce that Jim Dickson has been appointed the Chair of its Partnership Board. Jim will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the firm and leading the Partnership Board.
Jim worked as a civil engineer in Western Canada's oil industry, before earning his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Calgary. He returned to his native Nova Scotia in 1986 where he joined the Halifax office of Stewart McKelvey.
From 2001 to 2004, Jim served as Executive Vice-President, Chief Development Officer and Corporate Secretary at Sobeys Inc., where he was responsible for a broad range of corporate functions and was an integral part of the executive management team.
Jim returned to Stewart McKelvey in 2004 and has built a successful broad-based practice in corporate/commercial, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, securities, natural resources and environmental law with both public and private companies as clients. Jim offers his many talents to charitable institutions as well, including the IWK Health Centre Foundation and the Mount Allison University Board of Regents.
Both a visionary and a leader, he is widely respected and is well suited to guide and strengthen our firm for the future.
