Fredericton-based partner Clarence Bennett has been published on the Canadian HR Reporter for his article, "Stop fighting over reference letters".

In this piece, Clarence discusses employee letters of reference and outlines some key elements employers should keep in mind when they are asked to write one, such as inconsequential or negative letters that have the potential to provoke bad faith damages. In order to avoid the controversy that can arise from reference letters, Clarence suggests an employer have human resources create a policy that addresses these, which can remove the employers emotion towards the employee, or the element of surprise in litigation.
