Stewart McKelvey is pleased to announce that Charlottetown-based partner and Regional Labour and Employment Group Leader, Murray Murphy, CHRP, has been appointed Queen’s Counsel. The appointment recognizes and honours Murray’s extensive experience as a lawyer, his contributions to the legal community, and his broader community involvement.
Called to the Prince Edward Island Bar in 1996, Murray has served as President of the Law Society of PEI; Chair of the National Administrative Law Section, Canadian Bar Association; and as a member of the Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee to the Federal Minister of Justice. In 2012, Murray was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for Community Service.
Murray’s Queen’s Counsel appointment is effective immediately. In the new year, the appointment will be marked at a ceremony with the Lieutenant Governor at Government House in Charlottetown.
