In April 2007, the Nova Scotia Government passed amendments to the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act and Labour Standards Code effectively eliminating mandatory retirement in the Province. In order to allow employers to prepare for this change, the effective date of the amendments was delayed until July 1, 2009. These amendments only apply to provincially regulated employers in Nova Scotia.
