St. John’s partner Twila Reid, ICD.D, appointed as Commissioner of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Public Complaints Commission
Announced today by Minister of Justice and Public Safety, the Honourable Steve Crocker, Twila Reid, ICD.D, has been appointed the new Commissioner of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Public Complaints Commission, effective immediately. This civilian oversight body helps strengthen public confidence in regards to policing, and explores complaints brought to its attention. Twila will lend her expertise to this Commission on a part-time basis, while continuing her practice at the Firm as usual.
Called to the Newfoundland and Labrador bar in 2003, Twila focuses primarily in the areas of administrative law, labour law, employment law, respectful workplace, harassment, investigations, arbitrations, collective bargaining, privacy and construction litigation. She has appeared before all levels of court in Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as various administrative tribunals. Twila is an active member of organizations both inside and outside of her community – she served a two year term on the national Canadian Bar Association Board of Directors and served as Chair of the National Administrative law section. Currently, she serves on the Judicial Advisory Committee: Newfoundland and Labrador.
