Peter McLellan, QC

“It is constantly exciting working with Atlantic Canadian employers, helping to solve labour, employment and pension challenges.”

Admire the solution.

Experience is something not solely measured by the amount of years one has worked. In a law setting, experience is also the ability to be practical – and not just legal. With over 30 years of legal experience, Peter carries on an extensive practice focusing on labour, employment and pension and employee benefits law.

Representative matters

Today’s work world is changing rapidly with a broad array of employee issues. Pension and benefit plan liabilities, managing employee health and family issues and maintaining operating flexibility are all challenges faced by today’s employers. Peter works with manufacturers, health care providers, universities, and school boards to overcome these challenges. Peter has helped his clients navigate these difficult challenges by:
  • Negotiating collective bargaining agreements for multiple new long-term care facilities.
  • Successfully advising a major manufacturer who has been operating union free for over 25 years.
  • Advising sponsors of some of the largest pension plans in Atlantic Canada on a broad range of issues including plan funding, governance, surplus entitlement and wind-up.
