Paul’s clients face a landscape of changing regulations, investment products and risks. Using his knowledge and experience, Paul stays current on topics relating to his clients’ businesses and provides innovative solutions to their problems that allow them to confidently move forward into the future.

Representative matters

Paul’s practice is focused primarily in areas of corporate, corporate finance and trust law and is regularly consulted by various national and international businesses and their legal counsel as to corporate and corporate finance issues applicable to their operations in Canada.

Paul advises institutions and private clients with respect to trust structures and the establishment of transnational trust companies and represents such organizations before the New Brunswick government and legislature.  

Working with clients such as investment managers, pension managers, transnational trust companies and financial institutions, some of the ways Paul has helped his clients are by:
  • Acting as general counsel for the investment managers of public pension plans.
  • Acting for a client in connection with the formation and launch of pooled investment funds.
  • Acting as counsel to various New Brunswick-based transnational trust companies.
  • Acting on behalf of various counterparties in connection with issues relating to ISDA agreements and collateral arrangements.
  • Acting on behalf of the owners of or lenders to various New Brunswick mining and natural gas projects.
  • Acting on behalf of various corporations in connection with court approved plans of arrangement or reorganization under the Business Corporations Act.
  • Drafting and negotiating with the New Brunswick government for the enactment of the New Brunswick Special Corporate Continuance Act.
