Scott Norton, QC

“Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.”
- Vince Lombardi

Analytical, effective, frank.

Litigation clients want to know what their risk exposure is at the earliest possible stage of the matter so they can plan their response in face of the high cost of trial. Scott does just that by first listening, then having timely and frank conversations with the client in which he tells them not what they want to hear but what they need to hear.

Representative matters

With almost 30 years of extensive trial experience and knowledge of insurance law, Scott helps his clients win through the sound judgment that can only come with such experience. A few examples of his work include:
  • Counsel to multinational and national insurance companies in respect of coverage and defence of major claims.
  • Canadian product liability counsel to an international tire manufacturer.
  • General counsel to Nova Scotia School Board Insurance Reciprocal.
  • Acted for the Appellant in  Annapolis County District School Board v. Marshall in the Supreme Court of Canada, successfully overturning the decision of the NSCA and returning the jury verdict for the Defendant in a claim for $4.3 million.
  • Represented Michelin in obtaining a dismissal at trial of a claim for damages in the Ontario Superior Court.
