May 10, 2012

Stewart McKelvey is pleased to congratulate our partner, Geoff Machum, Q.C., on his appointment as chair of the Halifax Port Authority's Board of Directors. Geoff has served on the Halifax Port Authority Board of Directors since 2006.

The Halifax Port Authority is a local port authority with a mandate 'to develop, market and manage its assets in order to foster and promote trade and transportation and serve as a catalyst for the local, regional and national economies.' The Port Authority manages the Port of Halifax, along with its associated holdings and activities, pursuant to the Canada Marine Act.  Its operations are vital to the economic welfare of Nova Scotia.

Geoff is based in our Halifax office where he practices primarily in the fields of construction, insurance, directors' and officers' liability and commercial litigation. He is also extensively involved in our firm's management, including serving as a member of our regional partnership board, human resources and governance committee and is the firm’s strategic marketing partner.

Congratulations Geoff on this significant accomplishment.
