: Neil Jacobs to become Regional Managing Partner in Newfoundland and Labrador

Neil Jacobs will become Newfoundland and Labrador's Regional Managing Partner in January 2015, succeeding Dan Boone, QC who was appointed to the position in 2008.

Called to the bar in 1986, Neil works with equipment manufacturers, banks and lenders, business owners, other law firms and trustees on a broad range of issues, including purchasing and developing property, secured financing, business acquisition and divestiture, resolving business disputes, drafting contracts and transaction documents and providing counsel on bankruptcy matters.

He is the board chair of The Agnes Pratt Home and The Anglican Charitable Foundation for Children and has contributed to numerous community and professional boards. Neil is the former chair of the Canadian Bar Association's Business Law Section, Newfoundland and Labrador branch and has been a lecturer for the Business Law Section of the bar admissions for 10 years. Neil acted as lead counsel to The Office of the Auditor General in its review of The Department of Transportation and Works' contract with Humber Valley Paving Ltd.

Neil will build on Dan's successes, which include spearheading the development of the Labrador Practice Group and increasing community and business engagement with organizations such as the St. John's Board of Trade, Junior Achievement and more.
