: OHS law is not enough: Partner Rebecca Saturley writes about preventing falls in Canadian Safety Reporter

September 13, 2013

In her July 2013 Canadian Safety Reporter article entitled,“It takes more than OHS law to prevent unsafe behavior,”Halifax-based partner Rebecca Saturley notes that in addition to adhering to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) fall arrest legislation, employers should have a clear policy that is understood by everyone on the worksite, routinely inspect the workplace to ensure fall protection systems are in place, and perform random inspections and audits.

Rebecca’s advice to employers: Don’t wait for a tragedy or an OHS officer to show up. Be proactive, follow the law, and take disciplinary action when policies are being ignored.
