Stewart McKelvey supports two Nova Scotian paddlers

Nova Scotian kayakers Michelle Russell and Mark de Jonge have their sights set on Rio in 2016 and Stewart McKelvey is proud to announce it will share in their dream.

Both Michelle and Mark shine on the world stage including achievements of championship medals and best time records and other remarkable accomplishments.

Mark is well known for his bronze medal win in the K-2 200 metre event at London’s 2012 Games. He has risen to the top of his sport in the 200 metre distance races, with additional titles including the silver medal at the World Championships in Germany and gold medal at the World Cup events held in Poland, both in 2013.

Last year was a breakthrough year for kayaker Michelle Russell. She secured the 8th best time on record in the sport when she claimed the U23 World Champion title for the 200 metre event and earned the World Bronze Medal in the 500 metre event. This made her Canada’s only double-medalist at the U23 Worlds and the youngest member of the Womens’ Senior World Championship Team.

As Michelle and Mark look forward to Rio, where they hope to stand on the podium for Canada, we wish them smooth waters on their way to gold!
