: Stewart McKelvey and Local Music Artists Prepare to Raise Funds to Benefit the Community

January 29, 2010

St. John’s - As part of their annual United Way workplace campaign, Stewart McKelvey is organizing a music event at The Rock House to show the community just how much they care.  Performers include Jenny Gear & Sandy Morris, Denis Parker & Scott Goudie, The Navigators, and The Panting Brothers.
As a result of their 2009 United Way campaign, the St. John’s office of Stewart McKelvey raised over $7,500 for the communities of Newfoundland and Labrador.  “Getting involved in the annual United Way campaign is a rewarding opportunity.  The fundraising efforts are a way for us to come together as a group and help meet some of the many needs in our community,” says Dan Boone, Regional Managing Partner.

United Way of Newfoundland and Labrador is a registered charitable organization whose mission is to improve lives by building stronger communities throughout the province.  Funds raised by United Way stay in our communities.  The 2008 workplace campaign raised over $750,000 and of the funds designated to the United Way Community Fund, almost $450,000 was invested in 42 provincial programs and services.  This amount does not include the funds that were designated to hundreds of other registered charities as per the donor’s wishes.  The results of the 2009 campaign are currently being calculated and will be available in the coming weeks.
