February 21, 2013

Mark MacDonald, QC, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Northumberland Ferries Limited/ Bay Ferries Limited group, has rejoined Stewart McKelvey as counsel.

“I remain focused on the ferry business, but am looking forward to re-establishing my connection to the firm,” said Mr. MacDonald.

Mr. MacDonald was previously a partner at Stewart McKelvey before joining Bay Ferries Limited and Northumberland Ferries Limited as President and CEO in 2003.

“We’re excited about the prospect of having Mark re-engage with the firm,” said Paul Smith, chair, partnership board. “Mark was a key leader at the firm up until his departure about 10 years ago. He was highly respected in his areas of practice, which centred on the shipping, energy, construction and natural resources industries, and was always at the forefront of business development and strategy.”

Mr. MacDonald brings to the firm a keen business sense and extensive background in the shipping and transportation business, and as director and advisor to other companies and organizations.

“The knowledge that Mark brings as counsel to the firm is welcomed as we continue to grow our practice,” said Smith.
