: Stewart McKelvey Partner Appointed to the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia

We are pleased to announce that Stewart McKelvey Partner, David P.S. Farrar, Q.C. has been appointed to the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia.

Justice Farrar has had a successful practice in the area of civil litigation including occupational health and safety, worker's compensation, construction, financial services, government and regulated industries, insurance, intellectual property and labour and employment law. He was a member of the Firm's Partnership Board and a contributor to Firm management.

Justice Farrar received a Bachelor of Arts from St. Thomas University in 1982 and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 1986. He was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1987 and became a Partner with Stewart McKelvey in 1993. He received the designation of Queen's Counsel in 2004.

Justice Farrar is a member of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) and the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society. He was involved with the CBA Construction Law Section from 2000 to 2008. He was a frequent speaker at various conferences and was a part-time lecturer at Dalhousie Law School from 2000 to 2007. Justice Farrar was active in various community organizations, including St. Thomas University Alumni Association, Board of Governors and various sub-committees.

The Honourable Justice Farrar will preside in Digby, Nova Scotia, replacing Justice Patrick Duncan, who has transferred to Halifax.
