: Client Update - The Trouble with Bill 100 (The Labour Board Act)

November 30, 2010

The Nova Scotia government has introduced Bill 100, “An Act to Establish a Unified Labour Board”, the short form of which is “The Labour Board Act”. There does not seem to be any issue with respect to the Labour Board part of the Act (although there are questions as to why it is not called the “Labour Relations and Employment Board” as named in the July 2010 discussion paper, recognizing that it will also adjudicate matters under the Labour Standards Code and the Occupational Health and Safety Act principally affecting non-union employees).
