Cynthia Benson receives Queen’s Counsel designation
Saint John partner Cynthia Benson has been appointed Queen’s Counsel, following a formal ceremony at the New Brunswick Legislature this week. Recipients of this accolade demonstrate outstanding professional integrity, and have made great contributions to the practice of law and the community.
Following a Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of New Brunswick, Cynthia was called to the bar in 1992 where she began her practice, focusing on medical malpractice and insurance defence. She acts as counsel for the Canadian Medical Protective Association and its members throughout the province, as well as major casualty insurers, life and disability insurers and professional liability insurers. Cynthia has been recognized by Best Lawyers 2020 and 2015 as Personal Injury Litigation “Lawyer of the Year” in Saint John.
In addition to her busy practice, Cynthia is active as an ISU figure skating judge, officiating at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. She served as chair of the 2019 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships in Saint John, and received the Economic Driver Award from Hospitality Saint John for her efforts in bringing this competition to the area.
