Erin Best describes what it’s like to be an IP lawyer & trademark agent in St. John’s in Canadian Lawyer 4Students
St. John’s associate Erin Best is featured in the Canadian Lawyer magazine 4Students article, The pros & cons of practising… by Anastasiya Jogal.
Within this piece, Erin speaks to some of the positives and negatives of practising as an IP lawyer and trademark agent in St. John’s. She states that the small size of the intellectual property (“IP”) bar allows her to stay connected to her colleagues and communicate freely, and her memberships to organizations such as the Canadian Bar Association and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada helps her to stay on top of current IP issues and trends through area-specific webinars and conferences. However, Erin also notes that, due to the lack of local lawyers who practice IP law in St. John’s, she spends a significant amount of time educating the market about the basic IP law principles.
