Halifax partner Richard Niedermayer, QC, TEP, appointed Queen’s Counsel
As announced by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General for Nova Scotia, Randy Delorey, Richard Niedermayer, QC, TEP, has received a Queen’s Counsel designation. Recipients of this honour demonstrate outstanding professional integrity and have made great contributions to both the practice of law and the community.
Richard is a leader in trusts, tax and corporate law. Called to the bar in 1995, he works primarily with individuals, as well as owner-managed and family businesses on a broad range of estates and trusts, tax and corporate matters. Richard has worked on many challenging projects, including complex estate plans, tax-planned corporate reorganizations, international estates and succession planning.
A past chair of the Wills, Estates and Trusts section for both the national and Nova Scotia branch of the Canadian Bar Association, Richard has been recognized as Trusts and Estates “Lawyer of the Year” in Halifax by Best Lawyers, has been listed in Lexpert as a leader in Estate and Personal Tax Planning and in Who’s Who Canada under Private Client. Richard is an active member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (“STEP”), currently serving as its national secretary and on the board of directors. In February 2021 Richard received a STEP Founder’s Award for his voluntary service, and in 2017 he was named the STEP Atlantic Volunteer of the Year. In addition to his professional and community board involvements, Richard is also an active writer on trusts, estates and tax matters for various publications, including STEP Inside and Canadian Lawyer.
