Inaugural Stewart McKelvey Awards recognize three lawyers for their contributions to the fabric of the firm

During the annual firm-wide lawyer retreat, three individuals were celebrated for the many contributions they have made internally over the years. These first ever Stewart McKelvey Awards recognized Josie Marks with the Mentor of the Year Award, Richard Niedermayer, TEP, with the Practice Innovation Award and Jennifer MacPherson with the Spirit of Stewart McKelvey Award.

Moncton associate Josie Marks, recipient of the Mentor of the Year Award, can be best described by one of her nominators – “she is willing to share her experience and knowledge and is not afraid to be wrong. She motivates and inspires others to be the best they can be.”

Given by practice innovation partner Paul Saunders, Richard Niedermayer, TEP, Halifax partner, received the Practice Innovation Award. Richard’s drive and determination to shape the firms innovation strategy, as well as his lead role as past chair of the practice innovation advisory committee, were among the reasons Richard was the deserving recipient for this award.

Recognizing an individual who exemplifies what it means to be a firm lawyer, Charlottetown partner Jennifer MacPherson was given the Spirit of Stewart McKelvey Award. She has been previously recognized for her professional experience, integrity and exemplary community service and yet continues to give back as a mentor, friend and champion of the firm.
