Lease negotiations & tenant financing in retail real estate

Halifax partners Ian Sutherland and Deanne MacLeod will be speaking at the Canadian Shopping Centre Law Conference, April 30 and May 1, in Toronto.

Ian, who is a member of the program planning committee for this event, will moderate a panel on April 30 beginning at 1:00 p.m., titled, The Art of Negotiation: More Than You Bargained For. He will lead session panelists in a discussion of how to use various negotiation styles, strategies and dynamics to get the most out of the negotiation process.

Deanne will participate in a panel on May 1 discussing the implications for landlords of tenant financing. Panelists will answer a number of questions surrounding this occurrence, such as: what is actually being financed? What documents does a lender really need? And, can a landlord control where the money actually goes?
