Maurice Chiasson, QC, recognized with Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers
On behalf of His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, partner Maurice Chiasson, QC, will be awarded a Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers at a ceremony this Wednesday, July 13 in Halifax.
Created in 2016 to replace the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award, this recognition builds on the legacy and spirit of its predecessor to celebrate individuals who have made exceptional, ongoing and unpaid contributions to their communities in Canada or abroad. In addition to being involved in a number of career-related boards, Maurice is active outside of the office as well – he is currently the co-chair of the Heroes of Hockey Event in support of the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation, and has been the director of the Halifax Comedy Festival Society for more than five years.
