Nancy Rubin, QC, appointed first female president of Ad IDEM/Canadian Media Lawyers Association
At the Ad IDEM/Canadian Media Lawyers Association (“CMLA”) annual general meeting, Friday, November 13, it was announced that Halifax partner Nancy Rubin, QC, has been elected president of the organization, the first female in this role.
CMLA is comprised of leading media lawyers from around the country. The organization hosts an annual conference which attracts international attendees. It has intervened in cases at the Supreme Court of Canada and, through education, advocacy and law reform initiatives, CMLA works to protect and enhance free expression and court openness in Canada and beyond.
Nancy has been a CMLA member since 1996. With this new appointment, she leaves her former position as organization vice president, a role which she has held for the past two years.
