Response to COVID-19

Stewart McKelvey is monitoring the path of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (“COVID-19”) very closely, and the health and safety of our clients and colleagues is top of mind. We have a dedicated COVID-19 team that includes our CEO, our Managing Partners throughout Atlantic Canada and our internal legal advisors from relevant practice areas.

We are monitoring travel advisories and the travel of our firm members and putting appropriate safeguards in place. We are also communicating with our lawyers and staff regularly to ensure that all are aware of current recommended preventative measures.

Currently, all six of Stewart McKelvey’s offices are open and operating normally. We have had the ability to work  remotely for many years, and have a contingency plan in place in the event that all or most of our firm members are not permitted to physically be present in an office. Our site diversification allows us to operate from any office and, with the exception of our St. John’s, NL office, all offices are easily accessible by car for our lawyers and core support staff.

This will ensure we can provide uninterrupted service to our clients.

Many of our clients are also dealing with COVID-19 response within their own businesses. Stewart McKelvey stands ready to assist with any questions or concerns regarding remote work, absence management, and workplace health and safety. We also encourage you to regularly check for Government of Canada updates and advisories here.

We will continue to monitor and respond to the latest developments, and are here to support you as we navigate this challenging time together.
