Rod Zdebiak, St. John’s Partner, appointed King’s Counsel
Rod Zdebiak, Partner in our St. John’s office, has been appointed King’s Counsel. The announcement was made last week by The Honourable John Hogan K.C., Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General. This prestigious honour is awarded to those who have made exceptional contributions and shown remarkable merit within the legal community.
Rod received a Bachelor of Arts (with distinction) from the University of Manitoba in 1987 and graduated from Dalhousie University Law School in 1992. He was called to the bar in Newfoundland and Labrador in 1993. He maintains a practice in Insurance Litigation and Education law and has consistently recognized as a leader in these areas throughout his career.
Outside of his professional achievements, Rod is an active member of his community; he is the Chair of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador Complaints Authorization Committee, a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Human Rights Commission Panel of Adjudicators, and chair of the Legal Aid Newfoundland and Labrador Appeal Board. In 2023, Rod was appointed to the Newfoundland and Labrador Human Rights Commission. Rod also sits on the boards of Sound Arts Initiative Inc. and Newfoundland Computers for Schools.
We congratulate Rod on this significant achievement.
