Saint John partner Steve Hutchison receives Queen’s Counsel designation

With more than 30 years experience as a civil litigator and leader in insolvency, Steve Hutchison has been honoured with a Queen’s Counsel designation. Candidates are considered by J. Ernest Drapeau, Chief Justice of New Brunswick, the Attorney General of New Brunswick and the President of the Law Society of New Brunswick. Individuals must have 15 years in the active practice of law and have made exceptional and significant contributions to the legal practice.

Steve was called to the bar in 1984 after having completed a Bachelor of Law at the University of New Brunswick in 1983. Over the years he has worked with a diverse group of clients in a number of areas, finding solutions to challenging situations and building his reputation as a wise counsel with consistent wins in difficult and complex cases. Steve is currently acting as lead counsel to the Province of New Brunswick in ongoing litigation relating to the implementation of the Public Service Shared Risk Pension Plan.

As the current practice group leader for commercial litigation and insolvency, Steve is a regular contributor and speaker at various legal conferences. He is also involved in his community, having served as the president and director of Uptown Saint John Inc., and former director of the YMCA of Saint John.

The swearing-in ceremony begins at 3:00 p.m. today, October 24, at the legislative assembly in Fredericton. We congratulate Steve on this significant appointment.
