We are pleased to announce that Geoff Machum, QC, ICD.D, Partner in the Halifax office, has been elected as President of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers (“the College”) at its Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, May 28th in St. Andrews, New Brunswick.

As one of only four Presidents from Atlantic Canada in the College’s almost 25-year history, this prestigious appointment recognizes Geoff’s excellence in, and longstanding commitment to, the practice of construction law in Atlantic Canada, and his leadership as a Fellow of the College. Geoff was elected into the College in 2013 and has held various roles on the Executive, including Vice-President and Treasurer. He was also Co-Editor of The Journal of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers. Geoff has served as Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Construction Group (NS branch), Editor of Nova Scotia Law News (Construction Law) and has been recognized by Best Lawyers and Lexpert as a leading practitioner in construction law. Geoff has received the highest peer review rating, AV Preeminent®, for his professional excellence from leading global lawyer network, Martindale-Hubbell.

In his role as President, Geoff will continue to foster, enhance and promote construction law across Canada in collaboration with his esteemed colleagues on the Executive and in the Fellowship.

The College was established in 1998 and is comprised of leading lawyers recognized for their skill, excellence, professional experience and high ethical standards in the practice of construction law. It has approximately 130 Fellows, Emeritus Fellows, and Honorary Fellows admitted by invitation only. Other Stewart McKelvey Fellows of the College include: Art Barry, QC, Kenneth McCullogh, QC, Greg Moores, Colin Piercey and Mick Ryan, QC.

We extend our congratulations to Geoff on this significant achievement!
