We congratulate The Honourable J. Michael MacDonald on receiving an Honorary Doctor of Laws (LL.D) from his alma mater, Mount Allison University at their annual Convocation today in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the legal profession.
After graduating from Mount Alison in 1976, Michael went on to receive his Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University in 1979 and was called to the bar that same year. He has since gone on to have a distinguished career on the Bench, acting as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, Associate Chief Justice, and Chief Justice of Nova Scotia and the Chief Justice of the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal. He has acted as counsel to Stewart McKelvey since 2019.
